Barrow cemetery "Vor dem Kleinen Lindenberg II"

In the "Vor dem kleinen Lindenberg" field, this previously completely flattened burial mound was discovered in 1989 during road construction and excavated by the archaeological working group. In the process, 16 burial mounds were examined. The stone wreaths and stone packs were very well preserved. This allowed the cemetery to be reconstructed as a vivid archaeological monument.

Mound no. 10, which was rebuilt in a half-section, shows the structure of the burial mounds consisting of a burial chamber, stone packing, stone ring and earth mound.

Finds from these and other prehistoric graves found in the area are exhibited in the Rhön Museum in Fladungen.

There is a richly illustrated display board on site, which provides lots more information about the finds and other burial mounds in the area.

The burial mound is easy to reach from Ostheim. As all the paths are paved, you can also use your bike or car.
