Kallmerode
Kallmerode
Kallmerode was first mentioned in a document in 1206 as Carmenroth. The village was deserted around 1500, but was resettled by the Reifenstein monastery as a feudal lord from 1539. The St. Martin's Church, consecrated in 1756, is well worth a visit. The sparrow dyer monument is an allusion to the bird trader trade that used to be common in the village. A private farmstead in the Beinrode district was turned into a model estate for the former Cistercian monastery of Reifenstein in 1729.
