Gräfenroda is a friendly village nestled in the valley of the Wilde Gera. The first documentary mention as Grevenrot can be traced back to a clearing of count forest areas and dates back to the year 1290.The village with about 3750 inhabitants has a length extension of 5 km in southwest-northeast direction to the district Dörrberg.
