Spleen is one of the oldest settlements in the Thuringian Grave Field. The village was first mentioned in a document in 783 as "Milize". Thanks to the very limited construction activities permitted in the restricted area, there was still a relatively large amount of historical building fabric left in the typical Franconian clustered village at the time of the fall of communism. Completely under monument protection stands.
