Clöswitz
Clöswitz
The clearing settlement "Kloskewicz" (Old Sorbian = "place of the Klosek"), first mentioned in 1378, today's Clöswitz (380 m above sea level, 30 inhabitants) is located in a valley sloping down to the west from Großkochberg, close to the federal road 85 Rudolstadt-Teichel-Weimar.
In the 14th/15th century, the original farming village lost its importance and became an outlying farm and sheep farm of the Kochberg manor.
After 1945, Clöswitz was revived as a new farming settlement. Sled dogs have been kept in Clöswitz since the early 1990s and have successfully taken part in several competitions since then.
