Kühndorf
Kühndorf is a municipality in the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen in Thuringia. It is part of the Dolmar-Salzbrücke administrative community, which is based in Schwarza. Kühndorf lies on the southern slope of the Dolmar, an extinct volcanowhich is the highest elevation in the region. The municipality has around 600 inhabitants and covers an area of 8.5 km². The first documented mention of Kühndorf dates back to 837. The church of St. Martin was built in the 12th century and is a Romanesque building with a late Gothic choir. Kühndorf is characterized by agriculture and offers its visitors beautiful hiking and cycling trails as well as a Nature trail. The municipality is also known for its traditional festivals, such as the fair in August and the harvest festival in September.
