Outer women's gate
Outer women's gate
An outer town fortification was built in the 14th century to protect the Mühlhausen suburbs. Of the original three high gate towers, only that of the outer Frauentor gate remains. from the 15th century has been preserved. After passing through from the west, an impressive view of the former imperial city opens up. The barrel vault shows late Gothic tracery with keystones with foliage ornamentation. A formerly painted niche, arched windows with blind tracery, the holders for the gate leaves and the joints for the portcullis have been preserved on the outside.
