Altenberg Bad Kissingen
Altenberg Bad Kissingen
On the 284-metre-high Altenberg, you will find a park with impressive treasures from old and new garden art, garden monument preservation and garden archaeology. As early as the 19th century, park paths were laid out here, trees were planted and lookout points and benches were erected, giving the park its current character.
The path over the Altenberg leads you past architectural elements, sculptures, an artificially created stone gorge and a garden temple from 1849 called Walhalla. After the ascent, take a short break in the octagonal sun parlor made of white wood and enjoy the moment. The path then leads you on to the Sisi Monument, which was erected in honor of Empress Elisabeth.
At the highest point of the Altenberg you will find a circular temple with a viewing plateau: from here you can enjoy a magnificent view of Bad Kissingen, the surrounding Saale valley and the foothills of the Rhoen.
