Alternative Bear Park Worbis
Alternative Bear Park Worbis
The Alternative Bear Park Worbis is an animal welfare project of the FOUNDATION for BEARS. In addition to the WORBIS project, it also runs the Alternative Wolf and Bear Park in the Black Forest. As an animal welfare project, the facilities give bears, wolves and lynxes from poor husbandry a new home close to nature. In large outdoor enclosures, they rediscover their natural instincts and are able to practice behaviors typical of their species. The WORBIS project is a place of recreation and knowledge. On the one hand, once mistreated animals can be observed in a behaviorally appropriate habitat, and on the other hand, information is provided about the suffering and inappropriate housing of (wild) animals in zoos, circuses or in private hands. In addition, the ecology and biology of wild animals is explained with illustrative information boards and it is explained why keeping them in human hands cannot be species-appropriate. There are also some interactive educational elements on the approx. 1.3 km long circular trail, which provide the youngest visitors in particular with a clear understanding of animal welfare and knowledge about bears, wolves and lynxes. The animals can be observed in the spacious outdoor areas and are allowed to show their true nature - the WORBIS project is a place to get in touch with nature and its wonderful creatures.
