The comprehensive renovation of probably the oldest building in Bad Dürrenberg was completed in 2015. The completed upper floors now house the hostel "Altes Salzamt". The lower floors are, after the construction work, again used as a registry office. During the renovation work, old and partly unknown parts of the building have been uncovered, including a well-preserved stone baking oven from the 15th century. The baking oven, the old vaulted barrels of the building, findings and contemporary testimonies can be visited during a guided tour, bookable at the tourist information.
