Old town Bischofsheim
Old town Bischofsheim
The town center of Bischofsheim is in the form of a so-called. Frankish Rundling laid out and fastened. The City wall, the historical Rent Office and the 26 meter high landmark of the city, the Centertower, testify to history and give the town a historical flair. The post gothic City parish church with the Julius-Echter-Tower, which even towers above the city tower and the Russian Orthodox Church are also very worth seeing.
The special reference to woodcarving is obvious in Bischofsheim. Wood sculptures decorate the cityscape and numerous Wood sculptures have settled here. The oldest wood carving school in Germany, where you can train to become a state-approved wood sculptor, is located in Bischofsheim.
The newly designed Marketplace with its two striking cast-iron fountains from the 16th century and the rustic inns invite you to linger. Not far from the city center, in the direction of Bad Kissingen, lie idyllically on the Brend the Swimming pool and the Camping site.
Newly created in recent years are the recreational areas at the upper and lower entrances to the old town, directly on the Brend River: a Water playground with Kneipp treading pool in the creek, a Sound path with playground equipment and, in summer 2020, the roller sports facility "Funpark Four Seasons" with pump tracks, skill area, dirt pump track, half pipe, basketball court and artificial ice rink in winter.
