We are a second-generation family business with many years of experience and solid training in the restaurant trade. Our house is known for its home-style cooking. Our specialty is old Thuringian cuisine based on original recipes.
We learned our trade in our parents' business, the Schützenhaus Bürgel. There we gained extensive experience with large parties of up to 350 people.
Since December 1997, we have been the owners of the Altthüringer Weinkeller in Gernewitz, which is now one of the best-known addresses in the Jena and Stadtroda area. The "Altthüringer Weinkeller" was created here from a 300-year-old barn with stables in 1991 after extensive renovations and extensions.
In addition to the high quality standards we set for our wine cellar and our cuisine, we always strive to create a very personal atmosphere. We want our guests to feel completely at ease. This is also ensured by the stylish ambience in the neo-Romanesque cross vault or in our cozy Schäferstübchen.
In addition to the restaurant business, family celebrations and company parties are also part of our range of services. We are happy to work with travel companies who want to offer their guests a culinary experience at a reasonable price/performance ratio.
