Angelroda
Angelroda
The small, typical Thuringian village has retained its original character to this day. The village's landmark is a 26-metre-high railroad viaduct, which was inaugurated in 1879. Angelroda Castle was built by Burghardt Hironymus von Russwurm from 1614 to 1618! A museum of local history has been opened in the former farm building. From washboards to lace panties, you can admire many things from the good old days and immerse yourself in the history of the village. The church, the Schuhmannshaus and the Mämpelhaus are also worth a visit.
Angelroda is the starting point for wonderful hikes in the densely wooded surroundings. Particularly worth mentioning are the "Kammerlöcher" - mystical karst formations in which legendary dwarves are said to have played pranks.
On December 31, 2019, the municipality of Angelroda was incorporated into the municipality of Martinroda.
