In the Middle Ages it was a hostel in the middle of the Hainich.

While monks used to give lonely hikers a rest here, legend has it that a hostel warden later killed and robbed travelers. When the matter became notorious, guarantors from the surrounding area dug up this nest of robbers and destroyed the building.

Today, a hiking rest area invites you to have a picnic on a beautiful forest meadow.

The "Antoniusherberge" traditionally marks the halfway point of the two-day Hainichrunst.
