Ares' Ottens Hofkaffee
Ares' Ottens Hofkaffee
In 1841, Andreas Otto, a great-nephew of Edmund Otto (1748-1805), the last abbot of Gerode Monastery, took over his parents-in-law's agricultural estate in the center of Jützenbach near the parish church and the old school. The estate thus became the property of the 5th generation of the Otto family. After the son was also baptized Andreas in typical Eichsfeld tradition, his grandson was surprisingly given the name Karl, although the name Karl Otto was already very common in Jützenbach at this time. In order to be able to precisely identify the farmsteads and hearths at that time, each farm was given its own unmistakable name in village parlance. This is how the name Ares' Otten came about at the end of the 19th century. What could be more obvious than to let the name Ares' Otten, which is deeply rooted in this village, live on in the dream of my village coffee in a barn ambience.
