Observation tower Mottener Haube
Observation tower Mottener Haube
The tower offers a beautiful view of the Dammersfeld massif as far as the Hessian Rhön and is a popular destination for excursions. A steep hiking trail leads from Motten to the hood, and you can also climb the mountain from Heubach and Speicherz.
The 658 meter high Mottener Haube (also called Große Haube) is located directly near Bad Brückenau. The Bavarian-Hessian border runs across its summit. The Mottener Haube belongs to the foothills of the Dammerfeld massif.
On the most prominent mountain of the western Rhön, a wooden lookout tower was built in 1980, which was renewed by a steel construction in 2006. Along the boundary line there is a row of coat of arms stones. The prince abbot Adolf von Dalberg had them erected around 1729. The background was border disputes with the Counts of Hanau.
The lookout tower is located on premium hiking trails Extra tour "Hood tour and "The Moth".
