The permanent exhibition in the electoral chambers of Hartenfels Castle focuses on the importance of Torgau as a center of power during the Reformation and as a place of courtly representation of European standing, offering a museum experience of outstanding quality. The exhibition focuses on Elector Johann Friedrich the Magnanimous and his wife Sibylle von Kleve. The last Ernestine elector resided in Torgau from 1532 to 1547 and is considered a pioneer of Martin Luther's teachings in his time. The carefully restored building fabric and the innovative forms of mediation give a vivid impression of the reality of life at the Electoral Saxon court in Torgau.
