Bach Memorial Weimar
Bach Memorial Weimar
More than 300 years ago, Johann Sebastian Bach left his mark on Weimar's musical life in a special way and helped the city achieve great fame with his unique virtuosity. Not far from the former Bach residence at Markt 16, a bronze bust by sculptor Bruno Eyermann commemorates the composer, which was erected to mark the 200th anniversary of his birth. Initially, the bust stood at the former castle chapel, later in the State Art Collection. In 1985, the anniversary year, it was placed on the Platz der Demokratie, diagonally opposite the family's former home.
