Bad Lobenstein, known as Lobenstein until 2005, is a small town in the Saale-Orla district of Thuringia. Before it was incorporated into the district, Lobenstein was the district town of the district of the same name. It is located on the Thuringian Sea between the Franconian Forest and the Thuringian Slate Mountains. No matter which direction you come to Bad Lobenstein from, the "Old Tower", the town's landmark, appears from afar on a mountain cone.
