Bauersberg (780 meters)
Bauersberg (780 meters)
Also of volcanic origin is the Farmer's Mountain with its 720 mwhich lies approx. 3 km north of Bischofsheim. Via the Hochrhönstraße, which winds its way up the southern slope, you reach the Lange Rhön with its unique nature.
There is plenty to discover on a hike along the wooded slopes of the Bauersberg, such as the dreamy Rothsee, the Visitor mine "Braunkohlestollen Einigkeit 1844", the Holzberghof hunting lodge and the Waterfall devil mill.
Mining has been carried out on the Bauersberg for a long time. In the past, iron ore and lignite were mined. Today, Basalt AG operates a basalt quarry on the Bauersberg.
