The "Schwarzer Crux" visitor mine is a special feature in Thuringia, as it belongs to the small group of Magnetic mineswhich over the centuries have been extremely coveted Iron ore mined. In this group, which can almost be described as exclusive, the "Schwarzer Crux" mine presents the Highest quality and most productive iron ore deposit in the Thuringian Forest.

The mine has been developed in a unique way in terms of mining technology. No other mine has been developed in this way.

In a 40-minute tour to a depth of 36 m Geology, ore management and mining techniques are explained and historical roadways, conveyor lines and mines from the 17th century to 1924 are shown.

The rocks, ores and minerals as well as colourful secondary mineralization attract the attention of visitors.
