Experience the Sky Disk - The Nebra Ark Visitor Center

In 1999, the Nebra Sky Disk was discovered on the Mittelberg. Over 3,600 years old, the bronze disk is considered to be the oldest concrete representation of the cosmos in the world.

On June 20, 2007, the Nebra Ark Visitor Center was opened. Since then, the site where the Sky Disc was found has been open to visitors. The Nebra Ark is not a "museum for the Sky Disc", but an information and experience center at the site where it was found. After the Nebra Sky Disc became known in 2002, it became clear that many people were fascinated by the mysterious bronze disc - an exciting discovery story, the debate about its authenticity, encrypted knowledge and, last but not least, the extensive media coverage - numerous factors are responsible for this. There was no question from the outset that the Sky Disc, as one of the most important Bronze Age finds in the world, had to find its place in the State Museum of Prehistory in Halle. But there was also a need for information at the site of the find. In keeping with the uniqueness of the find, the visitor center also had to be something very special.
