The first documentary mention of this village was in the literature of the years 1330-1340 as Biberslage.

Biberschlag stretches along the upper Biberbach stream. Among the sights of the village are the listed church in Franconian architectural style, which was consecrated on April 12, 1663, and the redoubt in the Roßbach valley.

Biberschlag is home to one of the talent hotbeds of the Thuringian Ski Association, the SV Biberau. Here, the young talents of winter sports are trained in the Nordic ski disciplines. The new ski jump and ski roller track offer optimal training conditions.
