Bienstädt is located between Erfurt (18km) and Gotha (12km) and belongs to the administrative community of Nesseaue, based in Friemar, and thus to the district of Gotha. Bienstädt has approx. 660 inhabitants. The village has several craft businesses, a hotel with a restaurant and a cattle farm. The number of inhabitants has grown by around a third due to a new development area built in the 1990s. Bienstädt is the highest village in the Fahnersche Höhen (351m above sea level).
The Weisbach rises in the village and flows into the Gera in Kühnhausen. Our landmark is the Bienstädter Warte, a stone tower from the 15th century (built in 1411)
