Tourist information and regional store

The tourist information office is located on the first floor of the building. In addition to a large selection of flyers and maps, you can get individual advice on excursion tips, hiking tours and accommodation options on request. Right next to it is the café with a panoramic view of parts of the Dammersfeld and an outdoor area. It offers cakes, coffee specialties and hot soups. 

Also on the first floor is a Regional store. Typical Rhön products are offered for sale here. From home-made sausages to spirits and wood carvings, everything is on offer. All products on offer bear the Rhön seal of quality.

Exhibition

The second floor houses a permanent exhibition with the following main themes:

• The formation of the Rhön

• Settlement history 

• Special features and interesting facts about the natural landscape

• From the natural landscape to the cultural landscape

• Regional products and inventions

Children have the opportunity to combine the exhibition with a quiz. They will receive a small surprise when they hand in the quiz at the tourist information office.

Events

The Rhön Biosphere Center „House of the Black Mountains“ also offers an extensive program of events. The media and lecture room offers the opportunity to take part in various lectures and seminars. Further information on events can be found in the calendar of events.
