Blechhammer got its name from the numerous hammer mills that were at home here. An original iron hammer shaft from the formerly famous Bernhardshütte stands as a technical monument in the center of the village. Blechhammer is a stop of the Südthüringen- Bahn. The shuttle also transports bicycles and skis. Blechhammer is a district of the town Sonneberg.
