With the Brehms Welt Museum in Renthendorf, the Saale-Holzland district has a scientific-historical site of international importance. Two great scholars of the 19th century lived here, the "bird priest" Christian L. Brehm and his son Alfred E. Brehm. Visitors can experience their lives at first hand in a Brehm ensemble. The house was renovated over seven years and transformed from a "memorial" into a modern Brehm museum. The new building, the permanent and special exhibitions as well as cultural events promise many experiences.
