Kahla Castle
Kahla Castle
This could be the origin of Calos (Kahla). The word "calo" means Old High German "naked, leafless and bare".
The castle stood on a mighty sandstone rock. In contrast to the wooded surroundings, the area was bare. The castle was stormed, destroyed and never rebuilt during the War of the Counts around 1345. Today it has its own flair with beautifully renovated houses.
