Carl Alexander Tower
Carl Alexander Tower
The 21-metre-high Carl Alexander Tower, known as the Alexander Tower for short, stands on the 639-metre-high Ringberg. Once you have climbed its 111 steps, you will be rewarded with a magnificent view over the Thuringian Forest and the Rhön with its romantic valleys. To the northwest, you can catch a glimpse of Wartburg Castle near Eisenach.
The panoramic view on the tower platform was designed by Ruhla teacher August Lemmert and describes prominent places and elevations that can be seen in the distance. In good weather, you can see the Brocken on the northern horizon.
The starting point for a hike to the Alexanderturm is the parking lot at Mini-a-thür (Geschwister-Scholl-Straße).
