Dolphin fountain Teichgasse
Dolphin fountain Teichgasse
The fountain with a circular fountain basin with curved walls was made in 1847 by the Berka stonemason Carl Dornberger and donated by Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna. The figure of the drinking girl on the fountain column is a later addition which, according to Hans-Joachim Leithner, was not documented until 1928 and can possibly be attributed to the Weimar sculptor Arno Zauche. The dolphin is the design motif of other fountains in Belvedere Park and the Wieland Estate in Oßmannstedt.
