The German Thermometer Museum Geraberg was partially opened in January 2002 and fully opened in June 2004. The museum is located in the historic center of Geraberg. The replica of the air thermoscope designed by Galileo Galilei around 1600 makes it possible to observe the physical process that Galileo had already established at the time. Everyone is familiar with a clinical thermometer, but very few people know the differences between thermometers or what ohmic resistance has to do with temperature measurement. In the Thermometer Museum, visitors can find out why temperature is the most common physical quantity after time.

The first part of the thermometer museum comprehensively shows the history of the development of the liquid-in-glass thermometer. Using thermometers and valuable documents that are more than 100 years old, you can see the precision with which the so-called thermometer makers worked back then. Thermometers of various shapes, sizes and types can be admired. The areas of application are not neglected, here too the visitor is in demand and can try things out. The best thing, however, is that you can find out how a thermometer is made by watching a demonstration of a thermometer blower or a video film.
