The Allstedt outer bailey
The Allstedt outer bailey
The time-honored outer bailey is part of the impressive ensemble of Allstedt Castle & Palace. The outer bailey was built around 1746 on historic grounds with a history stretching back more than 1200 years, but due to the sudden death of its owner, Ernst August I of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, it was only completed in a simple form. After 270 years, now in family ownership, the outer bailey is nearing completion and being returned to its original purpose.
The outer bailey offers its guests an entertaining time and lasting memories at this historic location - with food and drink and regional specialties. The outer bailey often hosts events throughout the year - from exciting murder mystery dinners to romantic movie nights. It's definitely worth taking a look at the calendar of events on the Vorburg's website!
Weather permitting, the beer garden under the blue bell tree in the outer bailey opens every weekend from May to September on Friday from 5 to 8 pm, Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 8 pm.
If you don't want to say goodbye after your tour of Allstedt Castle and Palace, you can end the day relaxing on the courtyard terrace and in summer in the beer garden under the bluebell tree.
