Dohlenstein and Pfaffenberg
The Dohlenstein and the Pafffenberg are a FFH protected area in Thuringia.
Located to the south of Jena, the "Dohlenstein and Pfaffenberg" FFH area covers an area of 88.99 hectares. To the west and southwest is the small town of Kahla with its district of Löbschütz, to the east rises the 400 m high Lichtenberg with the Leuchtenburg castle, at the foot of which lies the settlement of Seitenroda. The Saale river runs along the western border of the area.
The highest elevation in the protected area is the 391.6 m high Pfaffenberg in the south, which gives the area its name. The geologically and ethnologically famous shell limestone slope of the 366.4 m high Dohlenstein is located in the west of the area.
