Double oak
Double oak
The approximately 300-year-old double oak tree is located 2 km northwest of Ostheim vor der Rhön, on a forest road in the woods, just under 1.5 km southwest of Lichtenburg Castle. The oak takes its name from the way it grows. It looks as if two oaks have grown together.
The monumental trunk splits into two thick shoots at a height of 1.5 meters. One of them goes vertically upwards to divide again further up. The other shoot comes off the trunk at an angle to the side. There is a wooden bench around the heavily moss-covered trunk.
The double oak is a registered natural monument of the district of Rhön-Grabfeld.
