Dorndorf
Dorndorf
Located north of Uhlstädt in the middle Hexengrund (246m above sea level, 107 inhabitants), the village was first documented in 1083 as a "village village". An arched bridge from the 18th century, half-timbered houses and the church with its hipped roof give the village its character. The Thuringian local poet Marthe Renate Fischer found the material for her novel "Die aus dem Drachenhaus" here. The beautiful village has a restaurant and a hall.
Also worth mentioning is the upper mill on the Wiedbach, which is used to operate a sawmill. It is the only watermill still in operation in the municipality.
