Thorn shield
Thorn shield
Also known as Langulaer Schildchen. This place is already mentioned in a protocol from 1785. Here it is reported about the existing Blöße and the possibility of its future reforestation in the Vogteier Hainichwald. It can be concluded from this that our ancestors were already thinking about their Hainich Forest and used every opportunity to increase the existing forest cover. The name Dornschildchen also comes from the fact that there were many thorn bushes in the area. Today, this place is mainly used for the forest festival of the Langula foliage cooperative and is a central resting place for hikers on the Rennstieg. It is an important meeting point for many excursionists from the neighboring communities.
