Trinity Church Zeulenroda
Trinity Church Zeulenroda
The new church was consecrated in 1820 based on a design by Christian Heinrich Schopper. It is a classicist hall church, but the tower is located above the chancel in the east and not above the entrance in the west as is usual. The organ was installed in 1821. It was replaced in 1925 by a new organ with 42 stops, three manuals and a pedal with pneumatic action and cone chests. The case was rebuilt in the style of the previous organ by a Zeulenroda furniture company. The altarpiece from 1822 shows the Entombment of Christ. In 1990, the church had to be closed due to heavy infestation with dry rot. In 1999, the external renovation work was completed with the installation of the new tower dome. Renovation of the interior began in 2004. The renovation also included the installation of a modern fresco. After almost ten years of construction work, the church was rededicated in August 2005.
