One of the reasons for Erfurt's economic success in the 19th century was commercial horticulture. Alongside other companies in Erfurt, the Benary company was important in the field of seed cultivation. The Benary warehouse was built in 1887 as a seed store within the company premises. In the listed building, you can still see the original wooden construction and a sack elevator from the time it was built.

Since April 2001, the printing museum and the show depot of the Erfurt museums have been located in the Benary warehouse. In the Printing Museum, which is part of the City Museum, numerous exhibits provide an insight into historical letterpress printing and artistic hand printing techniques. Objects from all Erfurt museums, e.g. the South Sea Collection from the Museum of Thuringian Folklore Erfurt and the Kämmerer Collection from the Angermuseum, are stored and presented in the display depot.
