Former hemp sack mill (also Pfuhlbrückenmühle)
Former hemp sack mill (also Pfuhlbrückenmühle)
The Pfuhlbrückenmühle (hemp sack mill) was first mentioned in 1250, making it the oldest inner city mill in the town. It was used as a grinding and tan mill. It was damaged in a town fire in 1487 and burned down completely in a fire in 1660.
In 1665, it was rebuilt as a hemp sack mill. It burned down again in the town fire of 1689 and was subsequently rebuilt. A steam boiler was installed in 1876. In 1890, the mill was shut down and partially demolished. In 1984, a fire destroyed the rest of the building. Today, a bridge can be found on the former site.
