Built in 1890 by the Jewish community, it was spared destruction in 1938 as it was confiscated as a granary and was no longer a cultural space; sold to a private party by the International Jewish Association in 1952. The memorial erected in 2006 in the immediate vicinity commemorates the former Jewish population and their deportation in 1942.
