The front building was built in the middle of the 18th century and used as an inn. It was then used as a tannery until the middle of the 20th century. Today, the house is in need of renovation. The building is not open to the public. The golden ship on the entrance portal is erroneously associated with Mühlhausen's membership of the Historic Hanseatic League, which is incorrect.
