Former Jewish bank in Schmalkalden
The Gumprich family was a Jewish partner in the private bank Wachenfeld & Gumprich Weidebrunner Gasse 28 and was active in many ways for the benefit of the town and its inhabitants, e.g. in founding the technical school for the small iron and metal goods industry (now a university), with scholarships for needy students and foundations for the surviving dependants of fallen soldiers from the First World War, infant and youth welfare and for the memorial hall in memory of the Schmalkaldic League.
