Former home of Lyonel Feininger
Former home of Lyonel Feininger
Lyonel Feininger was the first master to be appointed to the newly founded Bauhaus in 1919. From 1919 to 1925, he and his family lived in the right-hand side of the semi-detached house, which is privately owned. He traveled around Weimar with his bicycle and drawing pad: his pictures of village churches and villages, which he sketched repeatedly between 1906 and 1937, have become famous. Today, his works are mainly kept in the Harvard Art Museums in Cambridge, but also in small parts in the Moritzburg Art Museum in Halle.
