Eichsfeld Museum
Eichsfeld Museum
The baroque Jesuit College in Heiligenstadt has been home to the "Eichsfeld Museum" since 1932, which provides vivid information about the history, culture, religiosity and folklore of the Eichsfeld region. The exhibition is spread over three floors and gives visitors an insight into the eventful history of this region and its historic capital, Heiligenstadt.
Valuable sacred works of art, reliquaries, furniture, everyday objects and traditional costumes as well as a historical bird collection round off the presentation. There is also an exhibition on the sculptor Tilman Riemenschneider (1460-1531) - one of Heiligenstadt's most important sons - and constantly changing special exhibitions.
A warm invitation to THE cultural history museum of the region!
