Collapsed mountain near Themar
Even from a distance on the B 89 from Veßra to Themar to the left of the Werra, you can see the collapsed wall of the Eingefallener Berg. The steep rock face made of wavy limestone stands on an impermeable reddish base and is interspersed with mighty crevices.
Water is constantly seeping into them, which freezes in Forst, causing them to widen. This has often led to landslides in the past. The last one occurred on April 3, 1595 and according to legend, a landslide in 1137 buried the godless „Dörfles“.
