Eisenberg

Eisenberg - district town, largest town in the Saale-Holzland district, seat of the district administration and the district administrator - lies in a charming landscape surrounded by moderate heights, with vegetation consisting partly of deciduous and coniferous forest. With a population of around 11,000, beautiful, varied surroundings, excellent transport links, proximity to the centers of Jena (approx. 25 km), Gera (approx. 25 km) and Leipzig (70 km) and the lovely old town with its charming flair, Eisenberg offers a high quality of life and leisure.
Located directly on the A9 Berlin - Munich highway and the B7, which runs through Eisenberg, the town is easily accessible. Eisenberg spreads out for the most part on a plateau that stretches 275 meters above sea level from west to east. To the south and north, the town falls steeply into two valleys in which the Malz and Raudabach streams flow. To the north-west is a wooded hill made of shell limestone, the Beuche, which merges into the Thuringian farmland.
