Iron hand
Iron hand
The striking Iron Hand signpost has stood at a crossroads on the Ihlefeld since the Middle Ages. It was mentioned as a landmark in a Langensalza official book in 1554.
You are looking at a copy, the original was secured in 1964 and re-installed at the castle in Mülverstedt.
A replica made by master blacksmith Zilling from Kammerforst has stood on the old square since 1994.
The Rennsteigverein OG Hainich-Rennstieg took the initiative to make and erect it.
The individual fingers showed travelers the way to various places in and around the Hainich.
