Ellrich OT Rothesütte
The Rothesütte district of the town of Ellrich is located in the Südharz nature park, at the border triangle of Thuringia, Saxony-Anhalt and Lower Saxony in the Harz Mountains. The forest settlement was founded in the 17th century. The small village lies around 570 meters above sea level, surrounded by forests, meadows and gently rolling hills, where herds of Harz Red Mountain cattle regularly graze. Hiking trails lead into the charming surroundings, for example along the border trail, along the Green Belt, into the Steinmühlental valley with its impressive rocks or to the Stierbergsteich pond in the direction of Sophienhof. A route of the Harz Mountain Bike Arena also leads past Rothesütte. If there is enough snow in winter, cross-country skiing and tobogganing fans will also get their money's worth. A cozy country café and an inn with game specialties invite you to stop for a bite to eat. Rothesütte is well connected in terms of transport, so many other places in the Harz can be reached quickly and easily for excursions. A new tourist attraction will also be built in Rothesütte by 2022 - with the world's largest witches' broom, a 55-metre-high, barrier-free viewing tower, a forest adventure playground for children and family hiking trails.
