Ernst Neufert House (Weimar-Gelmeroda)
Ernst Neufert House (Weimar-Gelmeroda)
As early as 1929, the architect Ernst Neufert built a prototype for industrial construction in the Gelmeroda district of Weimar. His 10 x 10 meter residential building with integrated architect's office was planned as an experimental house based on the American model. Modern architecture, high functionality, economic and ecological execution were the foundations of the design. The building is an example of the norms and standardization in the building sector developed by the former Bauhaus student. On the occasion of its 100th birthday, the Neufert Box was built as a space for events and exhibitions in the garden of the house.
