Ershausen is the main district of Schimberg in the Eichsfeld district of Thuringia. Ershausen is located in the Rosoppe valley at the foot of the Westerwald in southern Eichsfeld, around 13 kilometers south of Heilbad Heiligenstadt. The landscape is characterized by the surrounding mountains, including the Schimberg, the Hay mountainthe Winterberg and the Animal mountain.
